Quarter Horses
Raising good using horses with plenty of “cow sense” on the ranch is a necessity, but F.D. and Betty always enjoyed their horses as well. In 1965, they purchased Red Rio Zan, a 1961 son of Rio Zan by Zantanon H that earned his AQHA Championship in 1967, accumulating 19 points in Halter and 13 points in Cutting. “Red” became the Henrichson Ranch’s foundation sire, producing several good daughters including the 1981 Reserve World Champion Junior Heading Horse, Zanda Girl. Jacks Revenue, a 1976 sorrel son of Two Eyed Jack became a part of the ranch in 1979 and proved himself both in the arena and as a sire. “Jack” qualified for the AQHA World show both years he was campaigned and was the 1981 Reserve World Champion Senior Heeling Horse. He earned his performance ROM with 89 points in Heading, Heeling and Calf Roping. Both of these sire’s bloodlines still run through the broodmare band today.
SHINERS GLO AT NIGHT, a 1995 buckskin son of the great reining horse and sire, Shining Spark, joined the ranch in 1998 and quickly added his page in the Henrichson Ranch history. In 1999, under the guidance of trainer Bobby Lewis, “Cisco” was named AQHA’s High Point Junior Tie-Down Roping Horse, High Point Dally Team Roping-Heading Stallion and High Point Junior Dally Team Roping –Heading Horse. He earned his AQHA Performance Championship in 2000 and amassed a total of 313 open performance points with Superiors in Heading, Heeling and Calf Roping. To our delight, Cisco’s get are already making their mark in the show arena. He has sired 8 AQHA point earners accumulating a total of 243 open performance points, 5 ROM award earners, 1 Superior award earner, 4 World Show qualifiers and 1 Top 10 placing at the 2004 Open World Show…a testimony to the great minds and ability he is passing on to his colts.
FRECKLES SUN O LENA, a 1999 red dun stallion by AQHA Champion, Mr Sun O Lena. Campaigned by Bobby Lewis, “Freckles” earned his Superiors in Heading and Heeling, accumulating a total of 154 open performance points in Heading, Heeling and Working Cowhorse. As a sire, we are extremely pleased with the super disposition, confirmation and athletic ability he is passing on to his babies. Take a look…we think you’ll agree.
